[rebel-ramble] No transponder waivers -- UPDATE !!

I received mine today as well. The approval just gives an overall time
span and the stops for the route. It took only 2 1/2 working days to
process and I received it back via email. That means there is time for
everyone to apply and get approval where required.

Hi again, Ramblers !!

DAZZLING GOOD NEWS !!!!

I sent in the application for no-transponder waiver application
on Friday, June 22, about 4 pm ..... and I received my AUTHORIZATION
FORM -- TODAY !!!! - Tuesday, June 26th !!!!

I first phoned them to ask how to apply, given our unusual routing,
and received direct, helpful advice -- after they told me they COULD
NOT accept my original 2 applications for "just the border crossings".
I did say I was worried about the time remaining for processing,
and that I hoped it would be possible.... ( You could/should do this in a
cover letter with the fax....)

...... And they came through with GREAT service !!!

I sent in the 2 pages of Application - web address to d/l is
on the Ramble site: http://www.Prosumers.ca/Ramble07/index2.html
under Paperwork. I also included the Ramble RON's sheet -
NOT the Ramble Flyer !!
Under 'Flight Itinerary', I just put from July 2 - July 31,
and - "See attached list".
(Email me offline if you need a copy of the list - I've emailed
a PDF directly to all those on the Ramble list ...)

Those of you out West - by all means, send in those applications !
And maybe those here, too -- you could ask them to please
EMAIL the Authorization to you - so you could pick it up by
web mail enroute if it's not in when you leave !
(I got mine by email, as a PDF !)

One Happy Rambler !!!

Hi Ramblers !

For those of you without transponders -- we MAY have a
problem crossing our old way.....

It would be best to apply for a No Transponder Waiver -
form attached. They want your full itinerary, so I've
attached a copy of a blank one - we just filled in the space
on the form with "See attached route". Both forms must
be filled in completely, and FAXED to the number on the form.

They need a minimum of 7 days to process, so they
would have to be faxed today, tomorrow, Sunday, or
Monday latest .... Sorry there's so little time !!

We've never done this before, but it might become
a problem this time, especially out west, where border
enforcement has become very aggressive.

If you can't send it, don't worry, we'll continue on
as we have in past years, but be prepared - there might
be a challenge. Ramblers can always come up with
alternatives, though .... :-) Even if it means
backtracking, and crossing elsewhere, or, worst case,
missing a stop ...

[rebel-ramble] No transponder waivers -- UPDATE !!

That's great, Garry !!

Sounds like they're all set for a bunch of us !
Anyone who might need one should apply now - you can always
pick it up as email on the web, somewhere enroute, so you'll
have it for BC, where it'll be most important. Remember
to 'request reply by email', and give them your address !!

Only disadvantage now is we'll have to file separate flight plans,
just so they know we did use the waiver ! :-)

Those who don't have one, and those with transponders, can all
go together on one flight plan, as a "flight of 9" or whatever ...
with just one aircraft leading. (For the first crossing, on the
4th, anyway...)

Things are falling into place nicely, so far !

[rebel-ramble] No transponder waivers -- UPDATE !!

Bob, Ann called VIP, because we were waiting on our maps, and somehow they
screwed up and cancelled the order. Called around and found everything we
needed at Threshold Aviation in Mississauga. (including the new CFS)
she ordered them at 5:45pm last night, and they were in our mailbox at noon
today!
I can't figure out if I am more impressed with Threshold or Canada Post!
