Thanks for the update, Ken !

Glad to hear the Customs decals come quickly -
we recommend everybody order them now, rather than
getting them when we cross the border. We usually stick
them on the door post, where they can be seen through
the window - they must be positioned where they are
visible 'with the windows open'.... can go outside too.

It will save a lot of time & trouble, as they don't actually
GIVE you the decal at the border - just a receipt... which you'd
better have handy at all times !

The Arlington address is useful - everyone going should
print out the Arlington NOTAM, and the Oshkosh NOTAM,
as these should be with you on entry.

The Customs Decal Request, form 339-A, can be filled
in ONLINE, at: (ONLY works with certain browsers !!) :-(

http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/toolbox/forms/

The Customs Arrival Report, form 178, can also be printed
from that same address - you should have several of these
aboard, for each time we cross the border. You can fill in
most of the info ahead of time - leave the dates, though ... ;-)

Maybe those who are leaving from the West can order
their maps to ship later, on the chance that they might get
the latest ones -- BUT -- allow a week for Canada Post to
deliver them !!!

The only places I'm sure you can get Mogas are Carlyle, SK,
and Drummond Island,MI - there's a gas station next to the airports !
Of course, you can also run into town at Gore Bay and
Ashland, WI , using the courtesy cars -- and I'm sure you
could get a ride in at Lyncrest and Vernon .... :-)
I do suggest that anyone who CAN burn mogas might want to
bungee one, or two, 5 gallon plastic gas cans into the rear fuselage -
empty, of course, and be sure the vent is OPEN ! This might
come in handy, in case of emergency --- some airports
have run out of gas at Oshkosh time !! :-(

We WILL have a FUN trip !! Everyone, please contribute
your suggestions or questions here - this is your forum !

I hope to have more updates for the web site within a week
or so ..... http://www.Prosumers.ca/Ramble07/index2.html

Yes thanks again Bob and Anna for hosting the meeting.

There is Arlington stuff including the notam at

The customs decal came UPS to Canada in 3 days just like they said it
would with the $12. extra shipping. I found the web site fairly
frustrating but having the decal should help getting through customs
quickly.

I have received all the current maps but VIP says they are expecting a
bunch of new ones at the end of this month, including:
Great Falls and Twin Cities, and also the new Canadian ones that were
supposed to be out back in May - Vancouver, Winnipeg, and the
Edmonton/Calgary terminal.
The American facilites directories also expire on 5 July.
I guess I'll check with them again in a couple of weeks but now I can
start looking for mogas ;)

Hi Ramblers !

We had a great Ramble Planning Meeting on the weekend.
The turnout was a bit smaller than expected, but we have added
several new Ramblers, some looking for rides ... Please look
through the list, and see if there is anyone you want to get
together with - now is the time, if you are ready to Ramble !
There ARE seats available ... Some are only flying part of
the trip, but would still like company ! (Or you could go
part way, and come home commercial, if time is short ....)
There are a couple of pilots who might want to go the
North Route to Winnipeg, too - you can ask on this email list.
Please keep us updated on arrangements - thanks !

We ran through some of the Things to Bring, as well a going
over the route on old maps. The new maps are in at VIP, so
now is the time to order ! Looks like we'll have a FUN group
again this time !!

Mogas is listed as available at Drummond which usually means there is a
pump for it but I'll be bringing some jerry cans if that's what it takes.

Phillps southeast of Ahland also lists it but its a bit out of the way.

Moose Jaw North and Abbotsford also list mogas.

Hello, Bob:

Getting my ducks in a row to meet up with the Ramble at Manistique. I plan
to ron there, fly with the group to Ashland, and then on to Thief River
Falls. Then home.
However, there is some suggustion that the Ramble may not ron at Thief
River, but go on to Lyncrest. Do you know how likly that is to happen?

Hi Tim !

Looking forward to catching up at Schoolcraft ! Glad you can
join us for a while - even better if you could come on to Lyncrest !!
We're just not totally positive - we <might> have to cross to Manistique
on the 3rd, if customs might be a problem on the 4th.... They said
it was OK when I called, but I'll check again later in the week &
keep everyone posted.

I doubt we'll miss the RON at TVF - it's a fairly long day anyway,
and customs closes at 5 PM (!!) nowadays !!! .....but you never know
with Ramblers.... I suspect they'll be ready for a night in a motel
after Ashland camping, and we'll mostly be camping at Lyncrest,
so it'll keep up the alternating.
