Hi Ron !

There are several people looking for shared Rebels, or even
maybe renting a spam-can, so you might be able to hook up with
one of them.

The speed governments work is a problem - there's NO reciprocal
deal for Sport Pilot into Canada, and also NO deal for Canadian
Owner Maintained class into the U.S. ! :-(
That isn't likely to change in time for the Ramble ... :-(

Of course, it's pretty hard to tell one Rebel from another
in a bunch ... ;-) Not that anyone would ever do such a
thing .. ;-)
(But your insurance wouldn't cover you if anything happened ... :-( )

Yes, I know it's a long shot. But then, I was the first "from scratch"
sport pilot anywhere in the two large, nearby FAA FSDO's (regions), and
that wasn't bureaucratically easy either.

I'm not familiar with the details of the Canadian "Owner Maintained"
class, though I will need to learn more about it. Is that a set of
airplane AND pilot restrictions, or just affecting airplanes? Can't they
fly to Oshkosh even? =:O

I will do a bunch of research on this -- regs and history -- and try to
enlist some help from EAA, whomever. I'd like to at least attempt
getting one time, one trip permission. If not now, when, eh? Always a
first time, and I'm a glutton for (pioneer) punishment. :-) If you know
of any specific resources that would illuminate such a process, let me know.

Now here's another thought. Can/will/could the Ramble include at least a
leg or two in the US? By next summer, I won't be the only US SP wanting
to join such a congenial expedition.

For those who may not know much more than me, here's EAA's blurb on
US-Canada cross border travel procedures for homebuilts, which as I'm
sure Bob and others know, is pretty straightforward. It's in the
members-only portion of the EAA site, but...

Obviously, the Sport Pilot license adds some additional complexity here,
but my Rebel will be like any other US-defined "amateur built
experimental airplane", so I think the only significant issues to
conquer, if any, should be pilot-related, not plane-related. And
although permission is clearly required, until it's denied, it might be
granted. :-)

Hi Bob,
Put me down as very interested. I dont think R779 will be airborne by then
but maybe some one has a spare right seat in a Rebel that I could occupy and
I would make myself useful; y'know like pass along the appropriate charts,
share expenses, clean the bugs off the windshield etc.

OMC aircraft are going to be changed to 'homebuilt"

I sure would like to participate and if you come through Northwestern
Ontario I will follow as long as I can. My Rebel is on straight floats
and I only have a "Rec" license so it limits me to water on the Canadian
side of the boarder.
