Non-scrubbed ramble

Here is the report of the 2005 ramble, from the only scribe on the
trip!!!

Rebel Ramble 2005, the only ramble to have all planes in the group be
Rebels (total one). The shortest ramble on record, being 2 hrs 20 min
total flying time, start to finish.

Weather: going up the shore from PtE is usually clear, but the wind was
from the shore so we had to contend with some cover. Got to 8000 ft
before we crossed the channel, and had to let down on the north side to
get under the complete cover over Manitoulin at the east end. Down to
3500 ft, and great trip to Gore bay, which was in full sunshine. And
HOT.

Waited for the rest of the gang, but only non-ramblers arrived. So we
concluded if anybody was coming after 1900 hrs they would have eaten
already. Took the courtesy car to town for a fish feed, and when we got
back Robby confirmed our suspicions that the rest were to come on sat
am, ~1130 hrs give or take a half day, as per ramble time.

Sat am saw a bright sunny day, and enjoyed the start of a cup of coffee
while Craig pulled up the weather...........

Lots af action in a hurry then, us as well as another plane trying to
get back to Chicago. Don't know what route they took, but they took off
behind us.

Uneventful to the channel, but lots of haze. Could see some land
(islands) all the way across. Were relieved to see Tob airport.

Followed the shore, getting lower as we went to keep the ground in view.
At 10 miles out we still weren't sure we would make home, but we did in
light rain.

WE DID IT !!!

So I finally made a ramble after a couple of false starts and many
problems, but this one just fell into place, for us but nobody else
<:-((

Best of all, I got to fly with my grandson as pilot!!! <:-)))

Phil, FVJJ R302.
