HI Bob
Sounds like a great meeting you had!
Thanks for the feedback on possible Wpg events, and we are thrilled you are
able to come a bit earlier to spend Friday night, all day Saturday, and
Sunday morning in Wpg!!
*************
Nothing is definite with Rambling, but arriving Friday seems
to be the plan. Not sure if we might hit the Super 8 for Friday and
camp on Saturday - might be a plan if we've camped the day before ... ;-)
*****************
Friday evening/Sat afternoon Riverboat cruise:
The Paddlewheel Riverboat Cruise leaves July 4th (Friday) 7:00 pm for a
diner & dance cruise that returns to the dock at 10:00 pm cost is $13.75 +
food and drink, food runs for $16-$28/plate, for those who want a snack
instead of diner, the snack bar is open at 8:00. (Eating is not mandatory.)
The Saturday, July 5th sightseeing cruise leaves at 1:00 (boarding begins
at noon) and returns to the dock at 3:00 pm. Costs $12.95 each + food
(lunch or snacks) and drinks. Add GST & PST to these prices. [There isn't a
Saturday morning cruise].
Call 204-942-4500, VISA/MC card needed to make reservations - check out
their web site for more details if you like.
Once you let me know which time you think the Rebel Ramblers would prefer
(Fri eve/Sat afternoon), I'll pass the message on to all the pilots in the
area and invite them to join us if that is OK with you and Jack.
**************
That sounds GREAT !! Suspect we'll 'cruise' on Friday night,
but will toss it out to the Ramblers now, and see if there are any
preferences. Do you have the website address ?
We never know for sure with Rambling, so would hope to be
able to phone in reservations the day before - is that common ??
Certainly looking forward to sharing the cruise with as many of
the good folks at LynCrest as can join us !!

How about it, Ramblers ?? Please reply to the list & let
us know if you have a preference !!! Guess we can always sort it
out en-route ...... as usual ! ;-)

****************
Glad you love the BBQ "Reunion" party Saturday evening, we look forward to
sitting around the campfire swapping stories with you! Jack, do you want us
to make this an RAA sponsored event? Would you prefer this to be a Rebel
Ramblers and friends group or to invite everyone?
**************
Chiming in here - the whole Ramble will be promoting RAA - we
even have a banner to show off when the press comes out for photos !
With Ramblers, the more, the better !!! By all means EVERYBODY is
invited to join EVERYTHING !!! :-) We all love aviation, and
anything connected with it, and look forward to meeting a LOT of
new friends - that's part of what makes Rambling so GREAT !!
*********************
Saturday - visiting friends, museum etc - sounds great, Jack - would you
like us to line up some 'drivers' who would love to take Rebel Ramblers to
their favourite spots; or, Bob, will you be arranging rides by contacting
the friends you've made during your previous visits?
Cheers
Jill
**************
Jumping in again - from our perspective, it would be just great
if we could all ride together with our 'new friends' - (your members)
from LynCrest who will be coming along on the cruise !! If this is a
problem for your folks, we can all just call taxis - don't want to impose.
Ideally, it becomes a 'rolling party' ! :-)

Hi Jill !

Sorry for the delay - been a busy week !

We had a good Ramble planning meeting - over 25 Ramblers
showed up ! Never know how many will actually come, but it's
looking like maybe a dozen or more aircraft.

Among other things, we moved the start date back a day -
but will shuffle leisurely along to arrive at Lyncrest for the weekend.
The plan now is to fly into Brampton for a kick-off BBQ on
Monday night (about 6:30), then head out Tuesday, July 1st, to
Killarney for fish 'n chips lunch, then over to R.O.N. at
Gore Bay, on Manitoulin Island. (Remain Over Night). Some Ramblers
from the north and east will just meet us at Killarney or
Gore Bay on Tuesday. There are also several Ramblers who can't
get away until July 2nd, so they will meet up with us at Gore Bay,
and we'll continue from there. Should give us an easier day, and
give us a start on getting acquainted.

Almost ALL of the folks from Ramble 2000 are coming again,
at least to Winnipeg - and they're really looking forward to a
'reunion' party ! :-)

Several, including us, would like to arrive on Friday,
and go for that riverboat cruise with dinner & music (jazz ??) evening.
Is this available on a Friday ??? Or perhaps on Saturday morning ??
We don't want to miss the Saturday night party !

That would leave everybody a bit more time on Saturday to
visit local friends, tour the aviation museum, etc., and rest up
for the BBQ party in the late afternoon & evening .

Not sure of our next stop on Sunday - depending on the
group, we'll go to Carlyle, SK, OR - Brandon, Moose Jaw Muni,
Speedy Raisin, and possibly on into Medicine Hat .... It will
depend on how much they want to rush it, and the weather.

Thanks again for all the effort you are putting into
our visit. We do appreciate the welcome, and are more than happy
to pay our way to cover all expenses !

Thanks !! The Beaver Tail on the grill might be interesting
to some - no chance of Beaver Fever, I guess ??? Those of us near
Toronto are getting a bit paranoid, what with SARS and West Nile !! ;-)
Hmmmm..... Siberian Tiger Burgers, eh ! Brave souls - at least
they can't bite back ! :-)

Will check out the paddle wheel cruise site - hope to hear
from some Ramblers on preferences. It will likely be finalized a
day or so before we arrive ... The cruise definitely sounds like
a good time !

That's OK !! There'll be lots for everyone to do - Ramblers

to cruise either - there'll be lots of company ! :-)

Thanks for the update Jack !!

Sounds like planning is well under control !

Gee, if you're headed back West on June 30th, maybe you
could stop off in Brampton for the Ramble Kick-off BBQ !!! :-)
Just a quick hop from Pearson Intl. ..... We could pick you up
there & run you back for a later flight. Of course, it will be a
VERY pale shadow of the event to come at Lyncrest !!

Or maybe just fly along back to Winnipeg !!! <If> you are
flying the 172 down east ..... ;-) :-) Just trying our best
to lead you astray ..... :-)

Hi Jill,

Sorry I've been in BC for much of the last week and just catching up. In
typical Jill Oakes fashion you've grabbed hold of this thing by both ears
and I thank you for keeping up the momentum. This Ramble party is going to
be one for the record books!

Thanks for all the suggestions for activities. I think the Riverboat cruise
is a great idea and some will enjoy it. As an ex-Rambler I know that the
preference of the gang is to remain loose about firm details as everything
needs to remain pretty fluid in order for everyone to enjoy and relax
without undue pressure. That said, as Bob suggests, making reservations the
day before should work fine.

I think we should be able to scrape up enough vehicles so that the locals
can provide any necessary transportation. Lianne and I will make our two
available and that's enough room for 12 comfortably. I don't see why we
can't arrange for everyone to do what they would most like, be it riverboat
cruise, tour of the Western Canada Aviation Museum, the Forks, etc.

If we have some arrive on Friday that will be even better. Lots of time to
enjoy.

Re your question about making it an RAA sponsored event, I think that would
be great since, as Bob says, this is very much an RAA doo. That's how I
wanted to promote it when I go out with the little press release to see if
we can get some media attention. We're all in this together for all the
same reasons - celebrating the freedom of flight.

We should plan a meeting to firm up the final details and assign all the
tasks. Li and I are heading to Nova Scotia on the 20th (our son's wedding)
returning on June 30. When do you think would be a good time for a meeting?
Jack
