Ramble 2003

Hi Bob,

I just noticed in the Can. Flight the changed dates for the ramble. I
wonder if this is correct or a misprint (since I hadn't hearedthis before).
Can please cofirm the dates (either way), since I have partners to deal
with (I had the previous dates cleared). Also, I had hoped for a face to
face meeting with the group for info, planning etc.

Loking forward to your reply, Helmut.

Hi Helmut, & other Ramblers !

The dates in COPA are wrong !! Hope they'll change them
for next month !

The correct dates are: July 2 to July 20th for Part I (West)
of the Ramble, and August 24th to September 7th for Part II (East).

I've been off sick for a month, with bronchitis, and then
double pneumonia !! Glad THAT's over !!! Missed Sun 'n Fun ...

Sorry, but I'm 'way behind with newsletters, etc. Hope to
get something out in a week or 2....

There will be a planning meeting at the Brampton RAA clubhouse
on June 1st, to go over maps, etc. I will be advising the group
order number for maps a bit later - we can't order until just before
leaving, because of expiry dates ...

There will be more details & info in newsletters, soon.

The starting date for Part I is open to discussion - I've
had one request to start on the first of July .... we're easy,
it's up to the group !! I suppose we <could> visit Killarney for
fish & chips, then RON at Gore Bay, with the extra day, if everyone
is in for a very leisurely start to the trip ! ;-)

Hi Jim & Jane !

Sorry - I have to answer on the list, because your ISP
(hurontel) keeps bouncing my messages to you, saying that they
are spam !! Seems someone stole my ID and used it for spamming,
and now I'm on some list .... maybe you could call them ??

Yep ! We're looking forward to a GREAT evening on the
paddlewheel boat !! Looks like we've lucked into another Ramble
Party spot ! ;-)

We'll look for you at Gore Bay - still not sure at this point
if we might have to go the Northern Route - Wawa, Marathon, Thunder Bay.
Will try to get more info from the U.S. and let everbody know, when
we do .....

Good Morning Bob

Received all of the e-mails to do with the plans for the "Winnipeg due!"
Looking forward to the "Paddle Wheel Cruise" on the Rver Rouge on Friday eve.
We will be meeting up with you in Gore Bay on the 02nd, in the a.m., as we
won't be able to join in, until then. If there are other plans let us know
and we can meet up with you @ Manistique as well, if that's the plan. As
time gets closer, we will stay-tuned for the next installment.
Went into the site for the Paddle Wheel Cruise ... looks "v-e-r-y"
interesting ... nice touch!!!!

Sorry for all the trouble - don't know WHAT the problem
is - you're <receiving> list mail !! Just re-subscribed you - you
should get a notice soon .... maybe that'll fix it ! Of course,
then you might also end up with double messages ... :-(
The biggest problem is hurontel !

I've phoned to check on Drummond Island - apparently it
WAS closed <briefly> during the winter. They decided all customs
officers had to have guns, so they had to close until they could
go take a course and get them !!! ;-) :-)

Still waiting to hear back from Robbie about the latest
situation there. He's also looking into border crossing rules,
who to talk to, etc. - What great service !!

We're going to try to get up to Gore Bay for their fly-in BBQ
on the 21st - will find out more then.

Hi Bob
Just a thought --- as we had heard they were/or might be closing down
custom's @ Drummond Island ... Don't know how much truth is in that, but
I'm
sure you will be checking that out as well. Looking forward to this
"Ramble"!!

Thanks Robby !!

That's good news ! We'll keep digging for a definite answer
on the transponder question - looks like there is a waiver form that
is available... Thanks again for the help !

We've always bought our decals from Blaine or Dennis when we
crossed - hope that's still OK .

Will try to get up for the June 21st fly-in BBQ, if not, we'll
see you on July 1st !! :-)

Jim & Jane - you should be subscribed properly now to reply
to the Ramble list. Looks like I grabbed the wrong address - don't
know how come it worked, though ..

Hi Bob:
Drummond Island (Y66) is OPEN for business. Customs was temporarily
suspended for a period, but has returned to normal. During the "orange
alert" all US customs officers must be armed so Blaine Tisher and Dennis
Bailey had to be trained to carry a weapon. During a recent conversation
with Blaine Tisher, customs officer for Y66, I asked the question about the
requirement of transponders for border crossings. He didn't think it was
such a big deal and had no information on the topic. You may wish to consult
with someone else on this. As per usual customs decals are required and can
be pre- purchased on line or by fax. Decal inquiries can be directed by
telephone to: (317) 298 - 1200 ext. 1245 or e-mail decals@customs.tresa.gov
Please keep me posted with your Ramble plannings and I look forward to
seeing everyone at Gore Bay.
