Hi Ken !

I've subscribed both of you to the Rebel Ramble Mail List,
so you'll get the news "as it happens". :-)

Plans are starting to firm up a bit - it would be great to
have a bunch of Rebels fly in to Sun 'n Fun !!

We would likely leave about a week ahead, as weather can
be unpredictable in the early spring, and we're strictly VFR -
( Ve Follow Roads, Rivers, Railroads, .... and Busses in a pinch !) ;-)

Usual route is down to Point Pelee, and island hop over to
Sandusky, Ohio for Customs, then east to Zanesville, OH (usual RON).
From there, south over Beckley, WV, to New River Valley or Mt. Airey,
then down the back of the Appalachians - lots of possible stops,
and south to Douglas, GA (great RON). Douglas to Ocala, FL, or
Williston, FL, and on down to Lakeland - follow the RR across the
swamp ... !! The idea here is that a lot of weather coming from
the west gets deflected north along the mountains, so you're in
good weather on the other side - theory anyway ! ;-)

This route has lots of good airports to stop at if the
weather goes down, and is generally over decent terrain. The airports
are spaced so that even aircraft with only 2 + hours range will have
no problems. It has served us well for over 10 years ...

Anybody else out there up for a "Rebel Run to Sun 'n Fun" ??? !!
You don't HAVE to fly a Rebel !! Let us know if you think you can
join us !!

....bobp & Anna

PS
we're still working on our Rebel - it needs paint and a lot
of other fixups before then, so there's a chance we might not make
it, but we're sure trying !!

RON = Remain Over Night

Hi Bob

If convenient, please include us in any planning for a ramble down to
sun n fun. Mike (my brother) is thinking of flying a Grumman Traveller
down, although I don't know if I will be able to join him or not yet.
Mike is a little more flexible in regards to timing so he/we may be able
to join you. We've never done the trip in a light aircraft so we would
appreciate any tips on routing, etc.

thanks
Ken Lehman
