Ramble progress

Hi everyone !
We're working away on more Ramble 2000 details .....
so we can all have a FUN trip !
A BIG Thank You !! To Sam & Sandi Archer - two TERRIFIC Rebel
============
Elite builders who helped us out with information on airfields around
Roslyn, WA, and MUCH more !!!
I'm sitting here reading the menu from the Roslyn Cafe !! Sam
& Sandi sent it along, with a local newspaper, and brochures about local
attractions. This is the kind of info we need for many of the spots we
plan to visit ! We'll share all of this at the Planning Meeting, on
June 4th, at Brampton, and in the newsletters, as much as possible.
We now have a Ramble MASCOT !! "Morty the Moose" sports a
'Roslyn's Cafe' T-shirt, and a nice set of antlers !! San & Sandi sent
him along, as a mascot, good luck charm, and guide !!! He'll have a
seat of honour on the Ramble, that's for sure !
Sam & Sandi are going to meet us at Chilliwack, and hopefully
join us at another stop or 2 on the way to 'Cicely, Alaska' ! We owe
them a few dinners now :-) !! (and more than a few "soda pops" :-) )
Thanks to their efforts, we have 3 airports to choose from in
the Roslyn area - Easton 2,640 ft., grass, no fuel
DeVere 2,020 ft., paved, private, no fuel (closest)
and Bowers (Ellensburg) 5,550 paved, & 4,301 paved,fuel
We could pop into DeVere (with prior arrangement), to be close,
or just go to Ellensburg & rent cars/vans, for convenience. These are
things typically decided on the spot ..... 'navigation by consensus' :-)
We just like to have as much information as possible ahead of time, so
we avoid problems. The newspaper mentions several Bed & Breakfast places,
as well as motels, so that shouldn't be a problem, OR - we could camp
at the airport & 'day-trip' ...
Spent a few hours with the GPS (DigiFly 8" display) today, checking
out some of the airports on our route - looks like we have LOTS of
interesting choices. One big one will be whether to go back up into
Canada after Libby, MT., or continue back South of the Border....
Fuel might be cheaper, but then, <everything> will be in US $$$. We might
visit some new spots that could be interesting, but miss some friends
we met going out ..... Decisions, decisions !! It really is GREAT
getting up in the morning and deciding where to fly to, day after day !! :-)
It seems we're not the only ones who think visiting the home
of Northern Exposure might be fun - the town has a Moose Festival planned
for the end of July ! Too bad we'll miss it (and the $215 registration
fee !) ;-)
If you want to check out the Festival, and the surroundings,
visit: www.moosefest.com
Also, check out the site there for The Brick tavern - they have some
photos of town, and the beautiful countyside.
More news soon !!!
.....bobp
PS I'm working on the next printed newsletter now - should be in the
mail in a week or so ... Please send along any info you have on
interesting places en-route, or camping suggestions.
PPS Please spread the word about the Ramble - the more Ramblers, the
more fun we'll have !! The whole idea of the trip is to introduce people
to flying cross-country safely, if they're new to flying, or just haven't
ventured far from home for a while. You will meet some really wonderful
people while flying and camping - we sure have !!
