Gail, Thanks for passing on the Ramble progress reports. They were much
appreciated.

[rebel-ramble] Ramble update

Post by Jim Cole » Mon Feb 20, 2012 5:48 am

Well I wish I could say the same! I can say the same on everything except
the plane is in the hangar. After a great trip the cross wind at Tally-ho
field was fierce and directly across the runway. When I tried to keep it
straight for landing (which I couldn't) Peter and I decided that, being
tired and having an audience of 15 people, that it would be more prudent to
land at Alliston - directly into the wind - 3 or 4 miles away. So yes we are
in the hangar having a beer - but WOC will come home tomorrow morning
without all that weight!!!!!

Great trip and thanks everyone. You really can't appreciate how much you
learn until you've DONE IT!!!!!!

Cheers
Jim

[rebel-ramble] Ramble update

Ducky is back in the barn too with 58 more hours on her. Our landing was
also exciting in Guelph! Don't ya hate it when after a nice 3 point
landing - a gust comes along and throws you back in the air?

The hospitality everywhere was amazing and we also learned a great deal
and had a great time. Still can't believe how much stuff I unloaded
from the Rebel. But we weren't at gross ;)

thanks again Bob and Anna

[rebel-ramble] Ramble update

Post by Bob Patterson » Mon Feb 20, 2012 5:48 am

Good to hear that everyone is home & safe !

We had an exciting arrival at Brampton too - they changed runways
after we started downwind -- so we changed too ! Got lifted up just
before touchdown, & flipped to one side ... got it straightened out,
and landed with a sigh !!!

Glad to be home, the trip went entirely toooo fast !!! Had a great
time - best Ramble ever, and absolutely a great group of pilots who
really worked as a team, and reeeaaaallllllyyyyyy knew how to
have FUN !!! :-)

We actually had a Ramble with ALL REBELS !!!! And a couple of
Zenith 300s, and a C-172 ... We not only proved you could
"still fly across the country with a clean windshield and an Esso
road map", but we now know you CAN do it ALL on CAR GAS !!!
Thank you, all those kind souls who drove us to gas stations and
back - several times - with those red gas cans !! :-)
(..... and aren't you glad Ken brought a ladder ??!!!!)

More details - maybe - after Oshkosh --- we're into a full day of
laundry, then packing the car for OSH ... (it's just easier to drive in !!)
(and, believe it or not, we CAN take EVEN MORE stuff !!! )

Looking forward to seeing all the pictures - and the "Ramble Reunion"
tentatively planned for August 11th at Wingham .... :-)

Thank you all for putting up with 'Captain Bligh' - a somewhat
mellowed Waldo ! ;-) (We might just have to keep doing
this until I get it right !! ;-) :-) )

A great big Ramble THANK YOU !! To all the great people
who hosted us along the way - we had AMAZING parties in
Winnipeg, Vernon, and Arlington, - and special thanks to
Del & Brenda Schmucker, who drove 3 hours each way to join
the Ramblers in Lyncrest, ....and bring Bob a steak !!!!

Everyone really enjoyed the Western Hospitality !
We really need to get more people out to see what
great countries we have !!

We'll see some of you at the Murphy booth at OSH !!

.......bobp & Anna

[rebel-ramble] Ramble update

Post by Bob Patterson » Mon Feb 20, 2012 5:48 am

Hi Roberta !

Hope you got your Ramble pin from the notice board, and
the club retrieved our Thank You card, with a bit for your
social committee .... Sorry everyone had to go to work
before we could present it.

I dunno ..... imagine if there is another Ramble, I'll still
be organizing it -- maybe we just need a year or 2 off ....
and maybe have a longer Ramble next time ....
anyway, we look forward to visiting all the good folks in
Vernon again. Maybe one year we can stay for a few days
and really enjoy the beach !! :-)

[rebel-ramble] Ramble update

Post by Brian Breathnach » Mon Feb 20, 2012 5:48 am

Hi Tom

Finally back home here in Brentwood Bay.

After getting off in YCD I took a breather; then lofted eastbound to see my
family in Ontario for a few days--oh, and also to attend a Sikh wedding I
had been invited too--it was an awesome event: as was my little portion of
the Ramble from High River to Nanaimo BC.

My sincere thanks Tom for letting me share in what was one of the more
awesome flying experiences I have had in my 47 odd years of flying and
trying to stay out of trouble!!!!

Thanx Bob and Anna for organizing the trip and of course to all who made up
the Rebel Wing as it circled, soared and slipped over some of the most
beautiful scenery on this planet of ours.

Thank you Tom and thank you all!!

[rebel-ramble] Ramble update

Post by Inglis Family » Mon Feb 20, 2012 5:48 am

you are more than welcome Brian.
glad to hear you enjoyed it.

don't forget, you owe me a ride in that Rebel of yours, when you get it
done!
I am looking forward to it, so stay at it. { a little bit every day, and it
will be in the air sooner than you think!}

(a ride closer to sea level will be ok.)

by the way, as I seemed to busy enjoying all that circling, soaring, and
slipping (good description), I did not manage to get many pictures of the
most beautiful scenery on the planet. would you have any you could email me?

thanks in advance,
tom

Garry and Ron are in Osh Kosh tonight. They have settled in and have
their camp set up. They were the first homebuilt there. The other
