No problem ! They are still working, and we've added the
International Peace Garden (Dunseith) to the list - it's about
2 hours west of Piney, and open 24-7 .... no fuel or facilities,
just customs, but handy in a pinch. We needed it because
Piney CLOSED at 5 PM !!! :-(
May be open later now ...
A transponder will still be the last thing I'd buy - better
to have a good GPS, so <I> know where I am ..... ;-)
There is a Waiver that you can apply for, to allow crossing
without a transponder - it will soooon available on the
Ramble web site .... It must be faxed in, and they need at
least 7 days notice ... We usually cross with ONE aircraft
with a transponder, filing a flight plan as a "flight of 12",
or whatever number we are. This worked everywhere
except BC, where, I guess, the Snowbirds never come to
visit .... ;-) (Nobody had heard of this method ...
and they insisted on separate flight plans ! )
Still indefinite on numbers of aircraft - especially by that
leg. Likely in the 10 - 20 range, if we're lucky ! Certainly,
more Rebels than ever !! :-)

Bob,
I still have no transponder in FOKM. Last summer I used the border
crossing at Del Bonita to "drive across the border". In this case one
must not file a flight plan because they will yell at you that you need
a transponder when you are not actually crossing in any way they define
as requiring a transponder.
In any event, to your knowledge is this dodge still working and workable
for my return home thru Piney or Coutts or Del Bonita after OSH?
How many planes are you expecting in the flight from Chilliwack to
Arlington?
