The registrations are coming in - 3 more last week !
We're working on several areas of the trip - should have
more info to add to the web site soon ....
In the mean time, there have been several questions.
Some answers, we won't have for another month or 2,
but here are a couple:
Will we need mode 'c' transponders ?

No ! We won't have one in the Rebel !! It's a good bet that
SOME Ramblers WILL have transponders, and they will become
the leaders for the (2) border crossings where the transponder is needed.
We try to file ONE flight plan, for "a flight of 18" , or 20, or whatever.
For that to work, we must all cross in a group, with the
leader being the only one with a transponder - others must
be 'off' anyway.
For everyone else, who doesn't have a transponder, you
must have a Transponder Waiver Letter from the US government.
We will be posting the address & application forms for
this on the web site, as soon as we can get confirmation on
the details. We'll try to show the correct info for you
to fill in .... Please wait until we have ALL the info - we
may be able to apply as a group !
Will we need passports ?

Absolutely YES !! Unfortunately, because we are flying,
there is no alternative. We strongly suggest that you apply
IMMEDIATELY for a passport for everyone who will be
aboard - not just the pilot ! You MUST supply a Passport Number
in order to get the Transponder Waiver Letter - so get a passport NOW !!
Passport processing can take as long as 3 months, so apply NOW !!
Do we need special permission to fly a homebuilt in the USA/Canada ??

YES ! There is a blanket letter to cover this for the USA - we'll
get a current copy a month before the Ramble, and post it on the
Ramble web site. We'll try to get the Canadian letter as well,
but may have to post an address to request the letter instead -
will be checking on that at least a month ahead, as well.

All of these are reasons why this will be the last Ramble -
we are being buried in paperwork and regulations that only
suit the airline industry !
