Sounds like you're charging ahead ! Several builders just bent
up Lexan to make a battery box, including a folding lid. FINR just
had 2 long gear clamps fastened together, going right around the
box ....
You might try Spaenaur, in Kitchener - they have thousands of
fasteners, latches, and such - you might have to adapt one of
theirs, or just rivet a small door hinge to a strip of .032 or
heavier aluminum, and add a flip-latch at the front end ...
I have even seen a Canadian Tire & Aircraft Supply wide nylon
ratchet tie down strap used for a battery tiedown ! Not sure
what the inspectors would say - ok, I guess, if it's an Odyssey
sealed battery...
Keep building - looking forward to a GREAT Ramble !! :-)

Well Bob, I am working away towards the ramble - engine hung, oil tank
installed, rudder pedals, brakes, master cylinder etc.
I am looking for a fitting to make a battery strap out of. I've made a
battery box to hang on the firewall and I've seen a strap where you make
about a 1" wide hinged strap that is joined by an adjustable "bear claw"
like fastener that you then tie-wire. I have no idea what they're called
or where to look?
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks

Glad to hear that, Ron !!
One of the original ideas of the Rambles was to provide a goal
for builders - some extra motivation !
Happy to hear it's working ! :-)
With Rambling, we're never really sure where we will end up-
some years we came right back to Canada because of high gas prices,
other years, we stayed in the US all the way across, because of
great tailwinds !! :-) That's why the possible stops are a bit
vague, and the options become wider as the trip progresses ! ;-)
There are builders here who are not nearly as far along as you are,
and they are definitely coming along !!
So - keep rivetting, everyone... The Ramble's coming !! ;-)
Depending on timing, and the group, we may very well end up
flying into Oshkosh at the end of the Ramble, so that can be
another goal...
