Not to worry about nervous Nellie, Fred. You're in good company, or at least
lots of it. Now, because stating the obvious is one of the few things I do
well, and I have sensed another grand opportunity....
At some point, most of us become nervous Nellie's. (If we don't, and we're
not professional A&P mechanics, something might be, uh... wrong!) Given the
ultimate seriousness of what we're doing, if it doesn't get out of hand,
that's not a bad thing. There is solid data showing that at least 82.7% of
us get confused and/or worried about stuff somewhere between 57.3 and 116.4
times more often than than we ever ask or comment on the list. As Dave Barry
would say, "I'm not making this up!" <g> Whatever the ratios are, they're
probably too high.
Thank goodness for St. Mike's list archives. Usually I throw those willies
into his search engine and whether the answer pops out or not, the server
doesn't seem to mind slicing and dicing the database for me, over and over.
(Or if it does, Mike takes care of it. Yea!) If I've taken a whack at that
first, I don't hesitate, too much, to post a query. I realize there are
those who wish I would hesitate a lot more often, for a lot longer, but
miraculously, it seems they were all brought up well by the Universal Mom,
who trained them to remember first, "If you can't say something nice...",
etc. Even with me doing the best I can to lower the curve, it's still a
helluva group.
To all the list lurkers out there who are struggling with whatever and
reluctant to ask -- search the archives first if you can, then ask away.
