Best to wait till you do the weight and balance then put the battrey where
it's needed.

I still have my battery (Odyssey) on the front of my firewall (cut back 3 inches) even with my 360. But I do have a survival kit and my ELT stuffed as far back as possible in the tail. Although my empty c of g (10.7, IIRC) is quite forward, it works out well in flight, and allows me to carry lots of baggage.

I wanted to figure it out ahead of time too except there are two many
variables. I'm with Walter on the forward C of G. Although it may not be
optimum it may be more practical if you want to haul any bulky loads.

Mine is 11.92" aft. I find with just me in the airplane, I can't use the
last notch of flaps, not enough elevator to bring the tail down when
landing. I'm afraid on grass I could prop strike it, especially if there is
drag on the tires. Which brings my next comment on the 8.50 tires, they have
quite a bit more drag over the 8.00. I would be in big trouble if I had them
on this plane.

The Elite is even better for c of g with the heavier tail. On wheels, it was
harder to get my tail down for landing with full flaps when solo, but on
floats the forward c of g doesn't matter. It does save some weight to have
the battery in front.

BTW, I have had my little 13 lb Odyssey (PC625) now for 9 years, and still
not showing any signs of weakness. I even ran it dead last summer at the
lake when I left the master on, and it didn't seem to damage it.
