Float braces

I installed diagonal 4130 braces from the forward wing pick-ups to the
center of a 4130 stiffener brace that runs between the two top engine
mounts (prevents upper boot-cowl deformation from top engine-mounts
pinching together from engine/prop weight on rough water).
Diagonals go through the dash and fire-wall (alignment insured by
patented home-made electric fence post jig).
Makes quite a difference in torsional stiffening.
Also extra 4x8 sheet of .032 in belly, lower front and rear corner wraps,
gear attach bulk-head doublers, top-center engine cowl. .040 door sills and
just had to add a .032 doubler under the rear of the doors plus lots of
witch's hat stiffener.
Next spot for attention is the panel joint where the lower rear boot-cowl
mates to the bit under the front of the doors.
And I need to stiffen the cabin roof because I'm always crawling across for
dock fueling
the outboard wing and am worried about missing a bulkhead some day and
damaging something.
Chris Steeves and I are just finishing installation of 3/8" stainless tubing
with Swagelok couplers for hydraulic fluid transfer in amphibs. Every bit of
plastic tubing is
now in the garbage. My floats are ser.#001 and have around 1000TT
Will try and do pictures some day.

No, and have not seen a Rebel with one. Some have a window brace down tje
middle but I don't have that either.
