Walter, I installed an Odyssey Drycell *TM battery on Charles Dixons Rebel
(O-235 115 H.P. with original style starter). They are designed for personal
water craft for environmental considerations. You can mount these batteries
every way but upside down. Model number PC625 is what Charles brought with
him to have installed. This one weighed 13.2 pounds. Dimensions 3.9 wide x
6.7 long x 6.89 high including terminals. 625Amps for 5 seconds. These
batteries will maintain up to 50% state of charge after 2 years of non-use
at 77*F. At lower temps they last even <longer> without a charge. They are
shipped fully charged and are not hazardous like normal batteries. Double to
Triple the cranking power of an equal sized conventional battery. People are
apparently installing them inside the floors of their Cessna float planes to
have extra (non approved) back up power when those 300 h.p.fuel injected
engines kill the normal battery, cranking her over on a hot day!

I am looking for a new light weight battery for my Rebel. I have an O320
150 HP with a Skytec starter. The battery is mounted front of the
firewall, and am looking to save a few pounds to improve my C of G. My
current battery is a Concord which weighs in at 23 #.
From the archives, I came across a message from Bob P. recommending a
motorcycle battery from Canadian Tire, part # 2710140, model #12N14-3A.
Not sure what the weight of this one is. Price was 43.99.
Is this still the best choice? Any other recommendations?
