I think that is correct.

I haven't actually purchased a system yet. I am looking at the Blue
Mountain EFIS one as my top choice. Just thinking I might build an "avionics
shelf" in the tail that can hold the magnetometer plus other items such as
ELT and maybe weather downlink box etc. I am back there now doing other
sheet metal work.
A single shelf may be a good idea, but you may not want the ELT near the
magnetometer, at least not without checking whether it has ferrous material.
Even if it doesn't, separation from radio signals/coax/antennas is also
recommended, though if the ELT is transmitting -- presumably only during a
forced landing -- you're not going to be worried about heading. ;-) My ELT
will be at least 18" away, on the left side, just behind the baggage wall
bulkhead, with a coax run to the ELT antenna further back, of course.
