[rebel-builders] Firewall stuff Diesel WAM120

Hi guys

The original 3 cylinder diesel gave 120hp and the plan was to finalise the
design and then produce a 4 cylinder version giving about 160hp. This is
what I was waiting for.

What they have found is they can wide bore the three cylinder and are
getting about 140hp out of it at the moment, and expect a bit more. They
have it running on a dyno (although it broke the driveshaft to the dyno
earlier this week so they are having to build a stronger one before they
carry on :-) and by the middle of this year they hope to strip it down and
if no bad things are lying inside they plan to have it available to
customers by the end of the year.

The 4 cylinder version will therefore be starting at about 180hp plus and
I've changed my plan to go for the wide bore and get flying hopefully early
next year.

The website is well out of date I'm afraid, but they've been putting all
their efforts into getting the engine to market with the max hp.

Jet A1 and other similar fuels as well, much cheaper to run over here.

Hi Walter

No engine yet, but good news in that they now have a large bore
version of
the 3 cylinder engine running and producing about 145hp and expect to
be
ready to ship to customers by the later half of this year. This will
be
lighter and cheaper to run and buy than the 4 cylinder, and the
dimensions
are the same as the 120hp 3 cylinder they do now so I can pinch the
measurements for the cowl off another builder :-)

Not sure if you have your amphibs yet, but are you planning to go on floats with the 3 cyl?

[rebel-builders] Firewall stuff Diesel WAM120

Hi Walter.

My amphib's are still in Chilliwack and I've seen photos of them, looks like
they are mostly done but waiting for someone to finish them off.

As there is still no word on when the 4 cylinder will be going ahead, I now
plan on getting the 3 cylinder wide bore, and hopefully getting 145 to 150
hp out of it with a 3 blade MT prop.
