to inter-pitch door post rivets or not....that is the question.

the zipper-effect is one concern. overkill is another.

this was a service bulletin at one point for the SR3500.

mods to door post thus far with standard pitch, are: solid ad riveting,
.040" 2024-T3 with seaplane door wedge for outer skin, and same for inner
skin.

has anyone toyed with this one??

[rebel-builders] moose door post inter-pitching SB?

ted-

did you interpitch the rivet spacing as is called for in the SB? they call
for twice as many rivets, thus installing rivets in between the existing
holes, or did you figure .063" was good enough without interpitching?

thanks

[rebel-builders] moose door post inter-pitching SB?

I've never seen any service bulletin on the SR3500 for rivet interpitching
on the door posts. Quick-build and standard kit door posts come with #40
pilot holes already interpitched, AFAIK.

I added a "U" channel from the door post back to bulkhead C for the same
piano hinge reinforcement. Also serves to beef up my electric flap actuator
install on the passenger side just fwd of station 8. I think I made my U
channels out of 0.040.

What do you mean by the "L" channel at the bottom. Send me a pic to
tedwaltman@gmail.com if you would please.

So Ted what is this SB on rivet spacing? I have not heard of it. Do I
need it with my sea plane doors? I have added a "U" channel at the top
to beef up the area of the piano hinge. At the bottom I added an "L"
channel of stainless to reduce damage when loading.
