Chevy Super Rebel Update

Just a quick update on my Chevy Super Rebel. I got it unthawed and took it
flying the last couple of days. I finally got around to spending some time
with my IVO prop. I adjusted the pitch to max coarse and set power at 4000
engine RPM. I finally saw a good cruise speed. 135 MPH at that setting. TAS
was about the same with the conditions of the day. Out of curiosity I set
power at 4500 RPM and saw 155 MPH. I kinda want to keep continuous power at
4000 RPM or less though, but I'm quite happy with 135 MPH for continuous
cruise. I haven't done a careful GPS check yet but in last summer's flying I
did see speeds on the GPS that seemed to jive with the airspeed indicator
with adjustments for winds aloft. There are two washers currently installed
that limit the max coarse pitch. I'm going to remove them and move them to
the climb pitch side of the electric motor screw drive to further limit the
fine pitch. Right now I can get 6000 RPM at max fine pitch. I want to limit
that to 5500 RPM. I might get a couple of knots more cruise speed with the
additional coarse pitch. With over 800 ft-pounds of torque at the prop and
425+ HP I've got plenty of power and torque to turn a coarse pitched prop.

Now if I could just solve the danged radio noise problem.!
