[rebel-builders] Die Spring Gear Struts - 100th and 101st sets shipped toda

They're in the product section of our website Joe...and I'll send you some
pics of them on a beautiful Renegade directly.

Advantages... one purchase and never do bungees again ...that when buying
premade loops = a dozen on a Rebel @ $25us each = $300us. At the current
exchange for another $130 you get lifetime shocks.

The weak link of the renegade and Rebel gears is the bungee aluminum struts.

I work from October to early May Joe... the rest of the year has a much more
important usage for me.

Regards,
Wayne

PS.. here's a note from the Renegade fella I'm going to send you pictures
of...

Hi Wayne,
You may remember me, you sold me a spring strut landing gear set for my
Renegade
(the Poosemoth). After over a year of installing the 0200 engine and
designing
and building the cowling, we flew it.

All went very well and I am pleased with an uneventful flight. Your landing
gear
was absolutely perfect! It felt like firm bungees and did nothing
disconcerting or
strange. Funny thing was I forgot about it until after the
landing....that's a good sign.

Thank you so much for a nice addition to the Murphy Renegade Spirit, it sure
beats
the "arm chair technology" landing gear that came with it.

Sincerely,

-Folis-

Wayne
I am along way from flying the renegade... I would like to get the
information about your gear and see if I want to incorporate them in my
restoration
Do you have photos etc and a description of the advantage over the stock
Gear with bungies ?
And cost of your product/ I didn't dee any information on your web site.
When will you be able to produce a set for me after the summer? I will
complete my Renegade by Spring 2010
Thanks
joe

Lets not confuse "spring gear" alla Cessna/Elite/Moose... with Die Spring
Compression Struts that replace the bungee cord struts Mike.

I've made gear struts for about 10 Renegades. Same 4130 tubes... a little
different ends (since the Renegade's are 1" top and bottom) and a lighter
spring than I use on the Rebel. All customers very happy.

Joe.. can't remember if I have a set of springs in the shop or not. If I
do
I can try and fit making them into my schedule before I go away for the
summer in early May.. if not very questionable if I'll have time to get to
a

set if I have to wait for springs to arrive, as I have two virgin amphib
installs to do before then (as well as returning my own bird to it's
floaters). I'll check tomorrow morning if I have springs.

Having owned a Renegade and dropped in some pretty bad landings early on
I'd
say the stock gear is strong enough. I doubt the Rebel spring gear could
be
used. Regarding the rest of the airframe, based on the aerobatics I put
mine
through I would say it is more than strong enough. The plane just doesn't
fly fast enough with all those wings and wires to allow you to pull too
many
Gs. It dissipates energy rapidly too. Unless you plan to use an unusually
powerful engine you just don't have enough power or speed to damage the
plane in flight. I doubt mine would exceed redline when pointing right at
the ground with full power. Too much drag.

Mike

1/2" wrench will give the slider bolt a spin if that's what you wanna do.

Would have called but was scrambling with wife in Emerg during my
pre-arranged dash there and back by truck....Saw a lot of "interesting"
stuff.....

Hi Wayne !

You should have called if you were down - I'd buy coffee,
or a beer, if you drove ! :-)
(See anything you liked ??)

Congratulations on reaching 100 !!

I usually oil my gear struts every 2nd or 3rd flight .... been a
looonnnnggggg while !! :-( What size are those bolts, again ??

Hope to get out from behind this keyboard & go flying
again soon - after giving it a bath, lube, and gear leg fairing ....

Likely will be after Sun 'n Fun ...
