Hi,
I am ready to start prosealing my tanks and I was wondering
what is the best way to make sure I have the correct amounts of
proseal so that it will cure correctly. Do you recommend using
a scale to make sure the amounts are correct?
I have a prospective Rebel/Elite buyer in a relative of a
co-worker. He is wondering if he can fit in the airplane as he
is 6'6". I am 6'4" myself and was able to comfortably sit in
Keith Kindens Rebel, so I would not think it is a problem.

Hi Bob !

Have a look in the archives at www.dcsol.com/murphy-rebel,
searching by topic for PROSEAL. There's a TON of good stuff there,
and somewhere in it is a description of a simple balance beam scale
for proseal, and, in the ftp files, there is a photo of this scale.

I have flown an instructor who was 6'6" in my old Rebel -
he couldn't reach the pedals with the seat all the way back, and
had lots of head room !! I was doing a demo flight for him, so
he could decide if he wanted to train a local Rebel builder in
his own Rebel, when it was completed - he decided it would be
"NO PROBLEM !" - and a pleasurable change from C-150's !!
So your friend has nothing to worry about !! There's not much else
out there that even comes close to the Rebel for roominess !! :-)

Hi Bob Brennan

One of the many nice things about homebuilding is that you can customize it
to suit you, not an FAA size body if you know what I mean. In order to
accommodate a shorter friend plus myself, I used 24" seat rails instead of
the standard 18". This helps in two ways. First it makes the positioning
of the rails less critical, (it is not spec'd out in the manual), therefore
making it adaptable to more people, and it makes it easier to work on the
airplane without having to take the seats out. Also, I find that on long
cross countries, your buddy can sit further back, getting his feet out of
the awkward area of the torque tube etc. giving them more comfort etc.

With the longer rails, a 6' 6" person will be fine in my opinion.

6' 10"?! What do you need an airplane for? I would think you would get
altitude sickness just standing on your tip toes! :-)

I wandered into the Murphy display. We stood looking at each
other _over_ the wing of a Rebel. (I'm 6'10", he's 6'4") We gave
each other the 'ain't no way!' look. Ain't no way we could fit in this
little thing! Just to fly my Cessna 175, I had to add extra stops in
the seat rails.

But one of the guys there asked me to try it on. I was sure
surprised. The seat was so far back, I couldn't reach the rudders,
and when I finally got it adjusted, my cap was just barely clear.

Certainly far more room than my Cessna and part of the reason I
ordered a Super Rebel last spring.
