correct axle size for large bush tires

A friend recently purchased a Rebel on spring gear with 0-320. He bought super large smooth"bush tires" on 6 by 6.00 wheels, but when installing them he realized the axles were appx. 3/8 inch too short. He called MAM but could not get any answers. Do any of the builders know how or where to get the correct size axles?
