You are correct. My RV-4 had the same situation.

Hi All

On the MAM spring gear brake callipers, mine both came with a NPT
threaded
hole for attaching the supply, and a prefitted brass bleed nipple
that also
looks like it's an NPT threaded assembly.

If the calliper is just a chamber then I should be OK to move the
bleed
nipple to the other hole on one side of the aircraft to allow easier
routing
of the supply line ?

Good idea or am I missing something ?

They are interchangable but you need the bleed nipple on top for the air to
get out.

I've personally never seen a bleed screw on the top, but I guess I
have never seen Drews plane either :-)

Well I have my bleeders on the top but I didn't think that through very
well as obviously the air can get out by going up the brake line. I bleed
my brakes from the bottom up then just let some fluid out the bleeder screw
to make sure no air gets trapped.

Thanks for all your replies.

I've gone with the pipework going in at the top and the bleed on the bottom.
It looks neater IMHO and hopefully less prone to stone damage.
