Leading edge adjustment?

Post by Tim Hickey » Sun Feb 19, 2012 5:21 pm

Today we made chips! Lots of chips.
We spent the day drilling out the #40 holes in the right wing skin to #30.
Man, what a bunch of holes!

My question for the group has to do with the leading edge skin, and how if
forms around the front spar. We were pretty careful when we positioned the
front spar onto the leading edge ribs, and we have a real good, smooth,
curve as the skin breaks from the rib to the leading edge spar on the top.

On the bottom, we can see a bit of a discontinuity as the skin transitions
from the front spar to the rib.
I am thinking I can improve this by inserting a spacer, maybe 25 or 32 thou,
along the length of the spar where the skin touchs it.

Anybody run into this when building?

And any reason why I should not do such?

(besides the added weight, of course.)

By the way, I know that Charlie Eubanks has Rebel 806. Who has 807?

Leading edge adjustment?

Post by Tim Hickey » Sun Feb 19, 2012 5:21 pm

I may be double posting here, but since I asked the question below my
internet service provider crashed. So I think I missed about 12 hours worth
of incoming messages. Surprisingly, all the spam came through. I got nine
messages for Canadian pharmaceuticals and one from Nigeria asking my help to
scam a bank for 10 million dollars.

So if anyone did respond, I did not get the message. Except for one I got
from Ken, and one from Charlie.

Oh, and Charlie does not have Rebel 806. He has 802. So I hope I did not
offend 806.
