Hi Nigel, have you tried Whitworth or BSF, think they were used a bit in the
States, Rgds Peter G-CBFK.

Hi All

I've been busy today doing some more of the pipe work for the amphib float
hydraulics and a few things have cropped up.

The supplied pressure gauge has no obvious method of mounting it in the
panel. The two small screws at the rear allow the internal fluid out if
loosened so they cannot be used - plan A bites the dust !!! :-)
What have others done to hold the gauge in their panels ?

The other odd thing is the 4 screw holes in the front of the hydraulic
selector valve to mount it on the panel - anyone know what machine screw
size and thread these are, as I cannot find a suitable AF or metric thread
to suit ?

Thanks in advance guys
Nig

[rebel-builders] Float Hydraulics panel mounting

Yep, that hydraulic gauge is a bugger.

In the end I just made sure to cut the panel hole so that the gauge slipped
in as tight as possible. Then I made sure to fabricate my hydraulic tubes
such that the gauge is held into place. To take care of any further
vibration or rattling, I just ran a bead of RTV around the back side of the
gauge and panel. This really holds it in place well, dampens any vibration
and will allow the gauge to be removed. The RTV is behind the panel so no
one sees it.

My selector valve came with its 4 screws. As I recall they seemed to be
standard allen head machine screws.

Your valve didn't come with mounting screws Nig??

Just kidding ;)

They are 10-24 screws, (24 tpi)

Nig and Group:

Purchased a Mounting Bracket to mount the amphib float landing gear
hydraulic pump pressure gage to my panel. Mounts from back side with
two adjustable screws for final attach/snug. Ingenious method. Have
uploaded several detail photos of this part. Couldn't find a specific
folder to put them in, so I uploaded to "207-R-Instrument panels".
(Mike: Feel free to move them to a proper folder).
Not to confuse things, but I have also purchased a 300 PSI gage
(#9692198) from Spencer to replace the 600 PSI unit received from MAM.
Same manufacture, same footprint/specifications for both units (except
pressure grads) . Hope I get a chance to try it out some day.

I installed a gauge with a similar problem on my Murphy Renegade with
Household Goop. It cures really fast so I just gooped it up and held the
gauge in the position I wanted it until it set. It worked great!

Thanks to all who replied about this.

I've ordered the 10/24's from ACS and the RTV solution works a treat with a
bit of helpful pipework :-)

Thanks again all
