Flaperon in reflex position

Bob
Thanks for your info on the landing gear fairing, Gap seal ect. I have done
all those things and much more. I still have a few more things to do to
reduce drag thanks to Darryl Murphy.
I want to thank you and the other members of the group on voiceing concerns
to the changes we builders tend to make. It keeps us all thinking and makes
homebuilding safer.
The following i am doing from memory as my construction manuals are at the
airport,
so if i state something wrong please forgive. You voiced your concern about
the 40 deg. flap setting. I would like to make the following commit. With the
control stick in the nutural position and you apply maximum flaperons the
whole assembly drops to 18 deg.. If you then apply a maximum deflection turn
the down side flaperon drops to 40 deg. per MAM rigging instruction and
template. At this point the center bearing support is taking the maximum load
and the inboard and outboard bearing a lesser load. With the fixed flap the
inboard bearing takes the same load and the center and outboard bearing a
lesser load due th the ailerons deflecting only 20deg.
In flight testing i have found the 25 deg flap setting is all i use as the
additional 15 deg only adds lots of drag. My Rebel has the 125 hp Continental
and will exceed the 143 mph Vne in level flight at sealevel. It will cruise
at 135 mph @ 75 % power at sealevel. (Smooth Air only ) You mentioned 12 deg
reflex setting. Is this approved by MAM. I do not remember seeing the 12 deg
figure in my manual.
Thanks
