[rebel-builders] Border crossing
Posted: Sun Feb 19, 2012 5:16 pm
I thought that 1-hr email thing didn't actually get implemented. Or, maybe
it was 24 hrs in advance. I'll have to reread the stuff on AOPA or
somewhere. Also, someone made a comment about Canada requiring 12" #'s to
cross the border--the U.S. only requires 3" #'s for the Canadian border--12"
for coastal or Mexico though.
I know all of this border stuff is a PITA. Why not make car's do the same
thing????? I'm tired of the gov't making me feel like a criminal in my own
country.

I am troubled by the "Electronic iron curtain" that devides the U.S.
and Canada. With the ruling by the Department of Homeland
Security that requires that everyone leaving, or entering the U.S.
by aircraft, be required to E-MAIL them at least one hour in
advance with information about all passengers and crew.
Also very soon they will be flying unmaned radio controled aircraft
to patrol the border, the aircraft will be flowen out of Grand Forks
North Dakota. I think that this is "The Sky is Falling" mentality.
I think that all of the customs between the U.S. and Canada
should be eliminated such as that which has been done in Europe,
then beef up security at the coastal borders, and ports of entry.
I may as well sell my floats because where I fly there is no
E-MAIL access.
