Kevin,

Many issues involved, as I'm sure you well know:
- Quality of storage (i.e. no damage & no corrosion)
- Quality/accuracy of parts inventory
- Quality of construction on the h-stab & compliance w/ service bulletin on
outer hinge reinforcement

What is he asking for a price? Email me off-list if you want to:

Here's a partially completed Moose including an engine for a price

I am considering purchasing the below Moose kit. I would like this educated
groups opinion of the kits proposed value as well as what up grades would be
required to make this a Moose a Amphibian. I would like to put a M14 on it.
Thanks

Don't forget that there's a flying SR2500 for sale in Fairbanks for a really
good price... with or without the power plant.

This is Murphy Moose kit serial number 151SR, manufactured in 2002. The
fuselage, wings, and vertical stabilizer are factory "quick built"
components using mainly solid rivets. At that time, Murphy was having
these components built at the same facility that built the Vans RV quick
build kits. I built the horizontal stabilizer from the "non-quick build"
kit option. The elevator is started but still needs to be closed up. The
Moose kits qualify for the FAA's 51% rule when purchased as "quick builds"
(to include fuselage, wings and tail). The work I have done on the tail
section brings the kit close to, but not quite equal to, the same level of
completion that the quick build kit provides thus maintaining its 51%
status.
I picked up this Moose at the Murphy factory in 2002. Most of the aircraft
has been in "storage mode" since then due to military overseas
deployments, a job relocation, health reasons and another pending
relocation. I have the original factory inventory sheets that will verify
to the purchaser that the kit is complete.
Upgrades to this kit include an extra set of horizontal stabilizer and
elevator skins, flush mounted fuel caps, internal access door, side window
doublers kit (set of six), opening side window kit (pair), bubble side
windows, two landing light kits, and the oversize Alaska wheels and larger
brakes option.
The current Murphy prices show the Moose base kit offered at CAD$54,264
plus CAD$28,694 for the quick build (not now available) for a total
CAD$82,958. If you add in my above listed upgrades you're pushing
CAD$90,000 or the low US$70,000 range.
