VG's for the Moose

Question! My hanger partner and I installed VG's on his Savage-Cub (made in the Chezch Republic) today. It had a very abrupt stall characteristic during the landing flare before - very un-cub like; but after VG installation, it flew like a completely different airplane. Landed just like a Champ or cub. Also seemed to give better cruise performance though no real tests were run. Does anyone have any experience or information on VG installation on the Moose wing and/or tail? I would like to improve the landing characteristics a bit - seems to sometimes run out of good elevator authority at slow speeds and with no prop blast during a 3 point flare.

VG's for the Moose

Hi Charlie,

I've been flying my SR2500 (IO-540, c/s prop, Trike) since October. I installed
the Pacific Northwest Aero VG kit. The kit is very complete and includes VGs
for the wings, stab and fin. The kit is very complete, and very well
documented and supported by PNW. I highly recommend it based on the
professionalism put into the kit. I did not fly my plane before installing them
so I can't comment on the performance before. I'm seeing power off stalls of
51kts at 3,000lbs, and a cruise of 130kts at 75% power, full power give
135kts. Maybe soe of this is useful. Here's a link to PNWAero. I've got some
pictures of my installion process if you're interested. Send me an email
directly, so I don't miss your request.
