I meant to say that MAM instructions are to drill the two additional holes.
Mine (496R) doesn't have the holes predrilled either, which just seems a
little odd since the rest of the holes are already there. Guess I'll just
go ahead and drill them for now.

Mine don't have those holes. May be it because mine is a later S/N 802R
