OT - Aviation Terminology

Aileron - A hinged control surface on the wing that scares the hell out of passengers when it moves.

Airplane - The infernal machine invented by two bicycle mechanics from Dayton, Ohio and perfected on the sands of the Outer Banks of Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. Precursor of the Frisbee.

Bounce - additional practice landings for extra experience

F16 - Navigation device for guiding pilots out of restricted airspace

Go-around - finding the aircraft is miraculously undamaged, have another go...

LEADING EDGE front of the wing, the part of the aircraft that specifically attracts insects, rocks, birds and people.

Mag Switch - Hiding Playboy inside a Flight Magazine when the Wife / Girlfriend walks in.

PITOT TUBE . . . a device to store bugs

Preflight Briefing - "Don't puke in the plane"

Roger - The most popular name in radio.

STALL - what most pilots do when having to finalise paper work

Thermal: Powered Pilot - More turbulance Glider pilot - LIFE!!!!!

V1 = the speed after which you don't want anyone in the cockpit to say "oh shit".

Vne = the speed where the wings and the rest of the airplane are no longer required to stay together

Vx = the speed used by the pilot who want to win the "chicken game" against the mountain.
