Parking brake

Post by Charlie Starr » Sun Feb 19, 2012 5:07 pm

On Moose 96CS, I have a parking brake and have had no problems with it. It simply blocks the return line when "T" handle is pulled, thus maintaining pressure. It added a couple of extra fittings and hose connections, but is inexpensive and simple to install. I wouldn't rely on parking brake once at the ramp (in fact would not want to leave brakes set for thermal as well as leakage possibilities). I use chocks and/or tie downs after parking. On most larger aircraft, parking brakes are never set at the gate, and are released when chocks are in place.
