throttle and mixture cable...

Hello
Aircraft spruce show cable in lenght of 3', 4' etc... I am not sure how figure what I need! Measure from dash to firewall and then from firewall to carb? Could it be cut? How many loops could I have....
I should live closer of a rebel hangar...
