Hi all,
To give everyone a quick rundown on the pic's I sent. They start with the
original, showing from the front and from underneath. We then clecoed the
part to the aircraft, after we removed the carb heat down tube and marked and
cut for the exhaust pipes( that was a pain !! ) It shows the part sitting on a
table. Ren chose to leave his the full length so he is either 3.5 or 4" aft
of the firewall. We then riveted it on in a few spots, cut a bunch of excess
cowl out and duct taped the edges and test flew it. We did see improvement on
his oil temps but I cannot give you good honest numbers so I'll not try. He
just kept saying "it's better".
He then flew it home, took it to the guy that does his glass work let him
cut out a bunch more excess material on the old cowl and finished it. It made
a nice appearance change too.
Oh, because he kept it full length we did support the of the aft with a
small brace to the bottom of the fuselage.
When I do mine I'll get better numbers.
