I uploaded a pic of my dorsal fin to area 116 S/M Fairings.

You can see how I took the dorsal fin and assembled it on my Moose in the
uploaded picture. I probably have 10+ layers of filler on the main
section
of the fin itself. I feathered the top and sides into the fuselage and
riveted the main fin on the fuselage. I put filler over all the rivets so
the entire surface is smooth. I cut the sides of the fairings where you
see
the vertical "line" in the top and bottom fairings in the attached
picture.
Then I used 6 to 8 rivnuts to attach each cut section. I still have to
paint it of course. I'm also going to put a touch of filler on the joint
between the main fin and each removable fairing-then I'll use a razor
blade
to get a perfect match on each section's joint.

One doesn't need to take off the dorsal fin itself to inspect anything.
Note: I do have a good sized inspection hole in the other side of the
dorsal
fin to give one access to the elevator pulley's if necessary. Hence, to
access and inspect things (cables, bolts, etc) that are under the vertical
fin/above the h-stab one only has to take off one or more of the side
fairings.

I have more pictures if anyone wants them.

PPG Concept. Single stage paint. No clear coat. Pretty easy to mix up
small batches to do touch-up.
