It's all about weight and density altitude. With the 320, it would get off
the water as quick as 10 seconds, if I was near sea level and solo with 1/2
fuel. But at 3000 feet, 2 people and full fuel it would struggle and run for
30 seconds or more. So with 115 hp, I don't think you would get off at that
load and altitude. But near sea level, you probably would be OK as long as
you have lots of room. Any head wind really helps too.

At sea level with standard temperature and pressure and a long lake you are
probably OK. On a "hot and high" day with a small lake in the mountains,
I'm not so sure. Amphibs probably have a bit more drag in the water but
your max gross is the same with straight floats as with amphibs.
Does the 0-235 L2C have enough power to get a Rebel off the water on 1800

can understand your question. But as far as the others, I personnally don't
see much sense in using the O-235/IO-240 unless you have access to one for
cheap. I have an O-235 L2C I had thought about installing in my Rebel

it is sensless to me. May as well use the O-320 and if you are worried about

I recently was on a 5+ hour tour with a bunch of Super Cubs and I was flying
my O-300 powered 172. Flying at their speeds I burn a little over 5 gph. I
guess what I am trying to say is it is nice to have the HP when you need
it....just don't have to use it all the time if you are concerned with fuel
