Keep it in the box with the protective coating on it, keep it cool, out
of the 100* hot sun. If you have a basement that would be a good place.
The hot attic would be a bad place.

I just started yesterday to work with mine, made in 2003, and have
removed the spray on coating around the edges with no problems. Keep as
much of the protective coating on as long as you can. This will help
reduce marring the glass. Perhaps wait to remove it on your first
pre-flight!!

The old paper type protection was the stuff that was hard to remove. I
had some old Lexan with the paper a few years ago, it was a bitch! I
used alcohol to loosen it that took some time but the glass came out in
good condition. It's a shame to waste good Scotch!! Remember it
scratches easily!

I just recieved my windshield yesterday and it will be quite a long time
before I actually need to install it. Over the years I have read about
guys having a problem removing the protective covering when it has been
sitting. I am asking what is the prescribed way to store this without
having to worry about a problem later on.
Thanks,
Keith R661

Thanks Richard, that is what I was thinking of doing...put it in the basement. I'm in northern MN so my basement is definitely cool.:) Probably be there for awhile as I am currently building a log house by myself and it is a time consuming project!!! Sorta put the Rebel on hold til I can get the house liveable.
Thanks again,
Keith R661

[rebel-builders] Windshield Storage

I installed my windshield within a year or so of receiving and the spray on
protective coating came off very easily except for some areas that were
sprayed really thin. If you tried to scrape these areas off with even your
thumbnail, you would leave a visible mark on the windshield. I found that
just sticking tape, 3M blue tape worked well and left no residue, would pull
off this stubborn protective film really easily.
