[rebel-builders] Rebel - Horizontal Stabs

Post by Bob Patterson » Sun Feb 19, 2012 4:56 pm

Hi Dave !

DO NOT use 2 bolts on that forward stab attach fitting.
Doing that will turn it into a very weak spar - something it
was not designed to be .... The struts are supposed to
carry the loads - by locking the front, you force the
front attach to carry the vertical loads instead of just
acting as a pivot.

Ken is absolutely right on this one !!! This could be a
classic example of something that LOOKED like a 'beef-up'
being something VERY dangerous !!

I'm a drilling the forward attach fitting to the bulkhead and the manual
shows only one attach bolt. I don't want to fold my horizontal stabs, so
can I install two bolts in the forward fitting? or is it really needed?
Thanks
