Charlie, Ted Waltman and my self are going to try to use the tie down
rings from the lift struts of Cessna 182's. They are spring loaded to
be out of the way when not in use. Also am thinking of using them for
the seat belt attachment. That way they will be out of the way if seats
are removed and a load of cargo is loaded. We have cleaned out the
local salvage yard in Sacramento, but it is a good source for some of
the hardware that you need and a lot less expensive than retail from
aviation suppliers.

I rivetted peices of flat webbing to the floor with the large head rivets.

Couple of thoughts Charlie

I have many 2" loops of 3/16" nylon cord that I can tie to or fasten
bungee cords to. Works well and no problem when some or all are not in
use. Adds negligible weight. On the rear of the seat rails. On the
fuselage bulkheads, etc. The loops are large enough to tie several
things to if needed. Retractable metal hard points look great but I
figured I'd never have enough in the right places for all situations and
some add several pounds total.

At the rear of the cargo area where the curtain is I have two 0.032
angles screwed to anchors in the floor. One on each side of the elevator
cable cover. A screw at each end into nutplates below the floor. The
nutplates are on triangular doublers at the corner where floor channels
meet the bulkhead. They extend vertically about 1.5" and give me a place
to velcro the curtain to. The angles also provide a positive stop to
prevent heavy articles from sliding rearward, although I also usually
keep a cargo net there as well. A small aluminum bracket on each of the
four screws also has a nylon loop on it. The aluminum angles are
removeble for difficult loads. The brackets and loops are useable with
or without the angles.

Behind the curtain I have nylon loops (parachute cord actually) on more
bulkheads and even a couple on the sides of the elevator cover.

I went to a boat hardware supplier and picked up some recessed latches that
I mounted into the floor at the intersection of the cross members so that I
had two sides of each riveted to the floor and the cross braces. I put in
six - two front, two rear and two on the sides.

Thanks to everyone who offered suggestions for the Rebel's baggage tie
downs. Since I plan to certify my Rebel at 1320 Lbs. I will favor what
appears to be the lighter suggestions. Once again thanks for the good help

The existing tooling holes in the bulkheads or a 1/4" hole drilled in
the middle of a bulkhead if a tooling hole is not handy. As long as the
hole is deburred it doesn't seem to cut the rope loops.

A hole through the vertical part of the seat rails at the aft end.

A 1"x2" strap with a hole in both ends bolted to the side of the aileron
cover. They lie flat against the side of the cover when not in use but I
only have these behind the curtain where light stuff will be carried.

Have you (anyone) been using st-31 brackets to tie floor channels to the
Fus-5 carry-throughs? (My Fus-5's are halved.)

Yes I tied the floor channels to the carry throughs. Otherwise the floor
will tend to move vertically a bit with every bump. IMO every floor
channel should be tied into a bulkhead or whatever is at each end of the
channel.
