Its easy to get 2024 sheet around here but not so easy to get 6061. What
are the consequences of mixing the two? If mixing is not much of a
problem, what are the differences in using 2024 in terms of avoiding
causing problems for oneself?

Garry: 2024T3 Alclad is approximetly 30% stronger then
6061T6. Alclad is a thin layer of pure aluminum applied to
each side of the sheet to help inhibit corrosion.
Other suppliers that sell both 6061, and 2024 are Wicks
Aircraft Supply, and Airparts in Kansas City who specialize
in rolled aluminum. All will roll the sheets for shipping up to
.032"
