[rebel-builders] Hand Pump check-valves

Murphy uses a standard Watts check valve series #6 (my recollection). Check
the web and the Watts website for details:

http://www.watts.com/pro/_productsFull. ... =625&ref=1

Max pressure is on the order of 200 psi. This is a generic low tech check
valve.

I also couldn't get my valves from Murphy 6 months ago, so I went to local
plumbing supply and got an equivalent check valve from another company
(sorry, don't have the name right now).

If you go to your local plumbing supply that carries regulators, valves,
etc., for compressed gases and liquids, they will be able to get you Watts
check valve or an equivalent.

I got an equivalent which may be slightly larger than the Watts and so
cannot locate the check valves side by side as Murphy diagrams.

MAM is having a problems locating the check-valves for my Amphib hand pump.
Backered for 2 months now. Anyone know of a source?

Thanks
Clay

Hey Eric, thanks so much for the info! I'll have to do some more checking
around - I was looking in hydraulic supply stores with no luck.

Hi Clay

Take a look at this sight these would work. It would be best to find ones with
the lowest cracking pressure possible as it will.

It's been awhile since I looked but MAM's looked homemade to me. Brass
push on hose fittings with a ball bearing and spring.

I think a pressure relief valve should be in the circuit as well and was
planning a pneumatic relief valve or regulator set at around 150 psi.

Ken, I think that answers another question I had regarding the maximum psi
reached when pumping ...150 psi ? The gauge MAM sent me is 0 - 500 psi but
I was thinking of installing a 0 - 200.
I spoke with Nancy today and she's hoping to have the check-valves in soon
... 1 to 2 weeks. Hope so.

I got some from the local hydraulic supply company. Much better quality
than the murphy ones and probably cheaper as well. Neither one of my murphy
valves would hold pressure right out of the box and the factory wouldn't
give me any warranty on the first ones or on replacements if I ordered from
them.
