The cross braces are adjusted so they are equal length. They are to
keep the airframe square.

I'm returning FOKM to the floats and currently attempting to rig the
x-bracing wires correctly. In doing so I find there are quite a few
choices around what one could shoot for as criteria - level wings, equal

weights on nose wheels, equal diagonals, etc. The main support elements
are known correct because they were used previously and the plane flew
fine. The only issue is what the design says you should shoot for in
adjusting the x-braces. What is the recommended procedure? I do not have

a floats manual so I cannot look it up.

Thanks Del. One of the members direct mailed me the pdf for the floats
setup. I have also had verbal discussion with Walter Klatt on the
subject of what is considered the most important part of the criteria.

I just eyeball the wings level. If it flew well before it'll be fine. I
don't think there's enough adjustment in the turnbuckles to make a >

[rebel-builders] Float rigging

It is an interesting process. The manual says to keep the floats
parallel and then ensure that the diagonals are equal, which should
result in a good arrangement. The angle of the floats relative to the
airplane is basically set by the lengths of the struts. Since it was
straight before it does stand to reason that it should be straight now
but I am not yet satisfied with it. I do know that I can make a
significant difference in the set of the wings by tightening a cross
wire. I also know that at the moment it is not right but I do have some
ideas about making it right - I just need to get out to the hangar and
spend some time. Thanks for your comments and to all the guys who
responded onlist and offlist.
