[rebel-builders] Tail weight
Posted: Sun Feb 19, 2012 4:47 pm
I can tell you it's normal without the wings on to fall forward when lifted
level, but I can't tell you the tail weight since I have a Super Rebel.
FWIW the weight on my tail, empty, is 60 lbs.

Subject: [rebel-builders] Tail weight
I have just finished painting my Rebel fuselage (without
wings and tail stabilizers) and find that the plane (with
a Lycoming O-320 engine with prop) will fall forward if
the fuselage is raised to the horizontal position. I realize
that more weight will be on the tail wheel when the wings
and tail surfaces are installed. However, that got me to
thinking if this was normal and what weight I should expect
on the tail wheel when wings are installed.
Thanking you in advance for your assistance.
