[rebel-builders] Pitot Tube

I used the pitot tube from Dynon: www.dynonavionics.com

I chose this pitot because I am also installing the Dynon D-100 EFIS. They
sell heated and unheated versions. Not to open a can of worms, but Murphy
aircraft don't need heated pitots since they shouldn't be flown in icing
conditions. Save time, money and weight and go for an unheated pitot.

You will need to purchase a separate pitot mast to install into the wing. I
don't recall which I went with, but was recommended on the Dynon site. I
have not flown yet (very soon) so don't have actual experience with my
choice.

Hi all,

I sent this out last week and didn't get any replies. Thought I'd try
again. I'm looking for suggestions for a heated pitot. I'm getting close
to the point where I need to be building it in. Thanks a bunch. CW

[rebel-builders] Pitot Tube

I purchased a used heated cessna tube from Wentworth. Works very well.
Smart move though was to install it just inboard of the wing strut.
Haven't banged my head into it or poked myself in the eye ;) .

Agree that Rebels doesn't really need a heated pitot though. I've only
turned mine on once or twice when landing in snow. It is not difficult
to fly without an ASI but I didn't want that added complication. Should
have just left the MAM unit on that I had previously mounted as I'll
likely never fly the Rebel legal IFR.
