[rebel-builders] Cabin Fuel Lines

Post by Gary Gustafson » Sun Feb 19, 2012 4:43 pm

I think there are many options and some of them I have seen. In my case, I
ran the fuel lines down the back side of each rear window, between the floor
boards and bottom of the fuselage just under each door sill. That way there
are no lines to snag from the console on back. In my case I put an elbow at
their exit and brought them across to the center of the plane to a T and
then forward. Just in front of each stick I put 2 fuel selectors so that I
can have right, left, both or none to feed forward to the engine. I also put
a drain at the low point in the line just at the rear end of each door. The
single line going forward then goes through the firewall to the gascolator,
then to an in-line pump and onto the engine fuel pump. Sounds complicated
but it was not so difficult. However, it took prior planning to route the
lines under the door sill. Both selectors are easier to reach than having to
reach back or across to change the fuel feed.

I have seen fuel lines go inside the cabin just below the door exposed to
the inside and any dents that may occur. I have also seen individual fuel
selectors above each door just aft of the entry point of the fuel lines into
the cabin. I have also seen the fuel lines routed all the way to the
firewall and then into a T before going thru the firewall. Lots of options,
but I like mine the best as it is not as exposed and it is easy to reach
the fuel selector switches just in front of the stick on each side. It also
would be hard to have your feet hit one of them.

Hope this helps. I am sure more people will chime in. There are also some
pictures in the files the illustrate some of the options. Good luck.

Gary

I'm about to finish the interior of the cabin section, Seat rails and inside
corner wraps in place. Just need to finish up mounting the rudder pedals and
brake master cylinders.
I read that you can go ahead and rivet the floor in place now? but I was
wondering where do you run the fuel lines? are they inside the floor or
corners? also do you run electrical lines inside the floor or corners?
Do you drill threw the FUS-5 's? or the FUS-4s? I don't see it anywhere in
the manual of how you would do these steps.
Thanks to anyone who can help me.
