VOR antenna orientation

Putting my VOR antenna's in the tail fin this weekend. I seem to recall
"always" seeing them pointed with the "V" toward the rear. Yet, here's a
picture with them pointed forward (www.metalcrafters.ph/pics/wip/wip%205.jpg
). Does anyone know of a reason / advantage to point them one way or the
other?
