All,

This forum is for builders to share experiences, good and not so good!

We also were one of the first to purchase a SR kit (003) and having to
do it over again we would NOT purchase a first kit, from ANY company.
Too many hassles...

Even though we are first time builders, a valid point was made regarding
the need for more diagrams, pictures, blueprints, anything that will
help the building process. Heck, we're doing the control section now
and would LOVE some more diagrams. It would also be helpful for MAM to
notify, by e-mail for those who are connected, any changes in the manual
ASAP.

No-one should take any comments/suggestions on this forum personally!!
We are here to help each other out, not duke it out.

Happy Building,

Peter Kopasovic & Monica Piquette

Thanks, Peter !

The factory is committed to adding more photos to clarify
sections of the manuals. ALL builders are invited to send in their
photos of sections of the kit that they feel will help others with
their building. Since there are only 3 Tech Support people at the
moment, they need your help in finding and photographing those
pieces that you think will be useful !

They have also started a policy of posting ALL new construction
bulletins to the support section of the web page as soon as they are
prepared. They would like to email, and try to mail, BUT they DO
need your current address ....

Please - if you have moved, or purchased a kit from another
builder - PLEASE send your snail mail AND email address to Murphy,
so they can keep their records updated. You would not believe HOW
MANY of the quarterly newsletters come back 'address unknown' !!

Thanks !!

Al Paxhia SR 26 from Seattle Area, sheet metal done except for one aileron,
struts and wing fairing boxes. Engine installed complete except for couple
of fuel lines and oil cooler lines, panel and wiring in progress. Building
windshield fairing and glassing vertical fin fairing, only wings painted.
I went up to the Chilliwack last Wednesday to check out the 3500, now I have
a dilemma. Do I incorporate to the gross weight mods now or later? Since
I'm going to be on anfib floats I feel its a must. We builders should form
a conversion "swat team" and do some cross training. Any ideas out there?

Hi My name is Gerry Halsall and I live just south
of Saskatoon. I have my tail pieces ready for
inspection and have both wing rib assemblies
complete. Ready to wire the first wing. I have
also purchased the 3500 upgrade so am waiting to
see what that entails before riveting skins on the
first wing. How have you enjoyed the building
process so far? What engine are you planning to
install?

Hi Al,
My name is Gerry Halsall and live just outside
Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
I have purchased the 3500 upgrade kit as my tail
feathers and wings are not yet covered. I plan to
put my aircraft on floats so hence the upgrade. I
still plan to install a 300 hp Lycoming rather
than the M14 radial. Am waiting for word from MAM
on the 5/32 rivits required on the wing doubler.
As I have flush riveted my leading edge I require
flush rivets on the new doubler. The facory hadn't
thought about that! I will have lots of questions
when I see Darrell at Sun & Fun in a few weeks.

Hi Gerry,

We are also building a SR and have purchased the 3500 upgrade. Luckily
we haven't closed our wings or tail section yet and will be able to
incorporate the mods with little?(hopefully) difficulty. We plan on
floats in the future and thought the upgrade a wise choice at this
point. We are installing a Lycoming IO-540 K1G5D 300 hp angle valve
engine.

Since we will be on floats in future we have spent the time spray
chromating all the parts inside before putting it together. Working on
the control section now.

Hi Peter & Monica,
Nice to hear from you! It sounds like you are at
the same stage as I am. I am also spraying the
interior of my pieces with chromate and my wings
and tail feathers are not closed. I plan to
install the same engine so I need to know if I
must make provisions for a fuel return to tank???
Also a electric auxillary fuel pump??
Have you received you upgrade kit yet?
Where are you folks located?

Hi Gerry,

We are located in Cambridge, Ontario, about an hour and a half West of
Toronto (which means we are fortunate enough to be able to attend the
Rebel Builders meetings in Brampton).

We have not received our upgrade kit yet, although it is ready to go.
We are waiting for our new windshield to be shipped from MAM and they
will send out the kit at same time. (Did you know that if you install a
300 HP engine MAM recommends you use a 1/4" windshield?)

We are not installing a fuel return to tank with our Lycoming engine.
If you get a fuel injected engine you will need a auxiliary electric
fuel pump.

Hi;
Building SR012 in Richland,WA.
Wings are complete except for tips, tail complete, fuselage is 50-80%??? -
I won't know until I'm done!

Engine is a 350 aluminum small block - see the photo on the murphy-rebel
builders web site;

http://www.dcsol.com:81/code/html-list+ ... =n&area=56
I will try to get more photos uploaded.

While researching redrives I found that the Geschwender units were no longer
being produced. I have since purchased the company's assets and drawings and
am tooling up to begin manufacturing. I have an NC mill which I will use for
much
of the precision machining.
As a result work on SR012 has kinda stalled!

Are there any Super Rebel builders out there??
Bear
Bear,

Here in Anchorage we have a Super Rebel # 025,
ready to take out to the airport for reassembly
and taxi tests. We are running an Lycoming O-540
with the three blade Hartzell. Hope to get the
plane out of the garage within the next month. I
just got my tail dragger endorsement last month
and now only need the high performance complex
check rides. This will not be a problem once I
find an instructor with a 180/185 that can do
the test ride.

Hi Chris, Great to hear that you are that close to
get flying! You certainly are living in the right
area for the SR2500. My aircraft is a long way
from flying althought I am making progress. I am
retired so can put some hours to keep things
going. I am very close to having my wings inspected.
I used to live about 10 miles from Alaska at a
place called Clinton Creek Yukon. I did 6 years of
float and ski flying in a 180 in the NWT.
I would sure like to visit Alaska some time in the
near future. Maybe even do some hunting and fishing.
Keep in touch and good luck with your project.
