Moose: Pressure tested fuel tanks

Post by Ted Waltman » Sun Feb 19, 2012 4:31 pm

Pressure tested the tanks yesterday. Didn't get too fancy. Just put
positive pressure on a balloon on one fitting and used a bicycle pump to get
a couple of psi (guessing) in the tank. Sprayed an oil-based furniture soap
(rather than dish soap which I've heard is corrosive). Only found one rivet
that was leaking between the two tanks (top & bottom of course). Figure I
can fix that one rivet and, when (not if) leaks show up later somewhere, use
the flowable type A proseal and a shop-vac to -carefully- suck some type A
in around whatever offending location it leaks at. Brent Blue used this
approach to seal a couple of offending locations and reported good results.

Guess I really am ready to paint! Of course, I've been saying that for like
6 months now.

Ted
