root rib attach bracket

Post by Jones, Mike » Fri Feb 17, 2012 5:57 pm

Hi all

Have a question on the fitting for the root rib attach bracket.

Is the roo rib attach bracket (w-161) supposed to end flush with the front
spar. Mine over hangs the spar by 1/16". This however allows the root rib to
be straight and square with the leading edge skin.

On mine if the w-161 was flush with the leading edge skin the root rib would
have to be on an angle and the upper and lower holes on the flanges of the
root ribe would not follow the center lines.

Any sggestions as to the right way to do this???

Mike

Hope I didn't misunderstand you on this, but yes all my root ribs are
flush with the inboard edge of the skins. On my right wing, the W-161
bracket extends past the rib and skin by about 1/16" exactly as you have
described below. On my left wing, the W-161 extends out perhaps 1/4" and
the packer extends even further.

Hopefully someone else will answer this as well so you have another
comparison.

Guys, you are doing it correct! Rib straight, W-161 and packer where every
they need to be to keep the rib straight!

Blue skies,
